Emilia Rocío Bances García recuperates and sorts recyclable materials in Lima. Her organization is affiliated to the National Federation of Waste Pickers of Peru (Federación Nacional de Recicladores del Perú, FENAREP). Through organizing and mobilizing, FENAREP has been able to push successfully, along with other organizations, for legislation that recognizes the work of waste pickers.
