Members of the Union of Women and Men Domestic Workers of the Lima region (Sindicato de Trabajadoras/es del Hogar de la Región de Lima, SINTTRAHOL) elect the members of their executive board for the next fiscal year. Membership-based organizations, such as SINTTRAHOL, provide informal workers with legal assistance to defend domestic workers’ rights and other services. More importantly, they provide them with a voice in discussions with the authorities regarding the issues affecting them, including at the international level. SINTTRAHOL is a member of the International Domestic Workers Federation (IDWF) and is working to promote Peru’s ratification of ILO’s Convention 189 on decent work for domestic workers. .
